Why do camels have humps?

Camels are Animals with origin tracking back to 45 million years. However, must of us don’t know the functions of those bumps but that’s what we’re gonna find out today.

• A bump is a camel’s energy storage.

Whenever a desert dries out or a harsh winter kills the vegetation of the shady lands, their only hope is the fats stored in their bumps.

• Do you know that camel traders (people that buy and sell camels) determine the health of camels looking at their bumps.

• Camels have humps because they help them to regulate their body temperature.

The humps help the prevent the sun from penetrating into their body.

• Some camels have two (2) humps.

Those two-humped camels are called Bactrian camels. They’re usually bigger than the dromedary camel which have one hump.

Unfortunately there’s no scientific evidence that can explain  why Bactrian camels have two humps.
